Window Awnings

The window awnings are striking traditional features that project from the wall by up to one metre over the Temple windows and are over two metres in length.

Several tiered layers of intricately crafted decoration are covered by a hood that spans beyond each window opening. The awnings will feature painted offering flowers and flaming wish-fulfilling jewels. The paint is a natural and rich mineral paint, vividly coloured with a velvety matt surface that will endure the harsh Beara weather.

The awnings are designed based on careful measurements taken at Lerab Ling adjusted for the scale of the Dzogchen Beara temple. The team made mockups to position and ensure correct shapes and sizes. The decorations will be be manufactured from glass-reinforced concrete formed in silicone moulds.
